TWHF New Member - Wallsend Local History Society
|Posted on Feb 16 2017|
TWHF's newest member is the Wallsend Local History Society - who will be involved in our conference at Wallsend Memorial Hall on Sat May 13th.
The aims of Wallsend Local History Society are to bring together all those who are interested in Local History and in particular the history of Wallsend; to record information about the town and share it with others through meetings, archives, books, talks, local history trails, trips, exhibitions and the internet.
Our Society meets monthly to share and develop our interest in the history of our town. Some of our members work on research projects, several having been completed as published books.
We invite guest speakers to our meetings and have been entertained by talks on Lord Collingwood, Earl Grey and Emperor Hadrian, as well as The History of Pickfords, and The Big River.
To coincide with Wallsend Festival or Heritage Open Days, we sometimes conduct a guided walk round the town.
We are sure there are many folk with memories to share and we are keen to welcome them to our meetings which take place on the second Monday of every month at St Luke's Church, Frank Street, Wallsend directly opposite to the Memorial Hall at 7:00pm. (Disabled access available).
The next talk is "Nostalgic Views of the North" by John Moreels on March 13th
Before the talk, there is time to socialize and enjoy a cup of tea/coffee.
We look forward to seeing you there!
